How many days to spend

Getting around
Inside Wulingyuan, combine park shuttles with the cableways and Bailong Elevator shown on the current park map. Day 2 begins at the South Gate and ends toward the East Gate; do not assume it is a return loop. Tianmen Mountain is city-side, with its own booked route and transport sequence.

Use a Wulingyuan base for park days
Confirm the gate-to-hotel transfer and current first/last shuttle arrangements. The route begins and ends at different gates on some days.
Tianmen is a separate mountain area
Its city cableway, summit paths, Tianmen Cave and included transfers are not part of the Wulingyuan park network.
Keep schedule slack
Queues, rain, fog and temporary operating changes affect mountain routes more than a normal city itinerary. Avoid a tight onward train or flight after a full park day.

Use the East Gate route to connect two headline viewpoints, then descend once. After the elevator, add Ten-Mile Gallery only if the last shuttle leaves enough time; keep Golden Whip Stream for Day 2.
Day 2 · Zhangjiajie National Forest Park · south to east
Huangshi Village and Golden Whip Stream
A trail day that pairs a high viewpoint with a shaded 7.5 km creek walk. The official route estimates about two hours for Golden Whip Stream itself; allow extra time for stops and transfers.
Day 3 · Zhangjiajie city · a separate mountain area
Tianmen Mountain
Keep Tianmen Mountain on its own day. Its city cableway, cliff walks, mountain road and Tianmen Cave are separate from Tianzi Mountain and the Wulingyuan park shuttle network.
