Before you book
- Confirm whether you need a visa, may use ordinary visa-free entry, or may qualify for 240-hour transit.
- Make sure your route fits the entry rule—not the other way around.
- Use your passport name consistently on flights, hotels and train bookings.

Before you fly
- Install and test at least one mobile payment app; keep a bank card and some RMB cash as backups.
- Choose an internet setup and download offline copies of addresses, tickets and essential translations.
- Complete the official arrival card if required and save the confirmation. The official service is free.

Build a workable route
- Give major cities two or three nights instead of changing hotels every day.
- Reserve long high-speed rail legs first, then fit local sights around them.
- Keep the first evening light: arrival, hotel registration, food and a payment test.
